Articulate Online Cards – Why Choose the Topic?
It’s been a few weeks now since we released the latest version of the Articulate Online Cards, and we were most chuffed to see that they got some huuuuuge use over Christmas.
One upgrade that we introduced was the way that a player now selects the topic before the card is displayed.
We had a couple of people wondering why this was, so here’s your explanation.
In the traditional, core, printed-as-its-always-been game, you draw a card from the back of the box.
And you look at the topic that you’re about to describe, and start grasping away about how best to get it across to your idiot team mates who have already made certain that you’re resolutely in last place, by miles.
Thing is, our eyes and brains don’t work quite like that. We first have to scan the card – however briefly – to find the right topic. And then our eyes dart around all over the place whilst we’ve still got the card in our hand.
So, subconsciously, we risk absorbing all the other stuff on the card that might crop up later. It’s the same with literally any card-based game.
Hence the addition to the online cards – a way to stamp out that particular risk, and hopefully extend the lifespan of the game, even just fractionally.
Like it? Don’t like it? Comments? Other ideas? You can give us feedback on the online cards by clicking here. We read it all! (We know all companies pretend to read feedback but actually send it to a massive bin fire, but we actually really, really do).
